A product screenshot alone is rarely enough for a dependable mold quotation. Tool construction depends on part size, material, appearance, assembly, volume, and acceptance method. When those inputs are missing, suppliers may quote against completely different assumptions, making the prices look comparable when the scopes are not.

At a minimum, prepare 3D product data, tolerance-controlled 2D drawings, material grade, color or surface requirements, estimated volume, and target schedule. If the product involves flame resistance, food contact, medical, automotive, or another regulated requirement, include the applicable standard and validation responsibility.

Commercial details also affect the plan: tool ownership, sample quantity, packing, delivery location, trade terms, and NDA needs. If the design is still changing, use clear revision numbers and change records. Complete data may not make the quotation cheaper, but it makes it more relevant to the real project.
