SMALL APPLIANCE COMPONENT EXAMPLE

Small Appliance Base Component

Circular and rectangular features to review together before tooling.

This small appliance base example brings together a raised circular section, a rectangular base outline, internal supports and several openings. These product views show different surfaces for organizing a component and assembly review.

Review the Base as Part of the Assembly

The circular section, flange, mounting features and panel openings need to be considered with the parts around them. Use the latest 3D data, controlled 2D drawings and mating components to establish which surfaces locate the base, where clearances are needed and how the assembly will be checked.

What to Confirm Before Tooling

Base and Assembly Interfaces

Identify the locating edges, mounting positions and seating surfaces in the drawings. Define the fastening method and required clearances with the mating parts. Agree which dimensions control assembly before assigning tolerances or choosing inspection datums.

Ribs, Openings and Surface Zones

Review wall and rib sections, openings and their junctions in CAD. For an injection-molded version, assess the selected material, release direction and tooling layout together. Mark the surfaces with appearance or contact requirements so the review follows the actual assembly.

Material and Operating Requirements

Specify the resin grade, color, surface finish and operating conditions in the project data. Include the expected loads and any applicable project requirements. Match material records to the approved drawing revision and agree on any validation needed for the intended use.

Sample and Assembly Checks

Define how the mounting features, base edges and openings will be measured. Provide mating components for fit and assembly checks where required. Record the sample revision and material, then verify affected features again after an agreed design or tooling change.

Prepare a Clear Component Inquiry

For a similar base component, send the latest drawings or samples, mating-part information, material requirements, expected quantity and acceptance criteria. Our DFM and product design review can be scoped around the decisions that remain open.
